Over 80 percent of the population in the IGAD region derive their livelihood from agriculture including livestock and therefore factors that affect land productivity directly impact on the welfare of the population. As the Sub-region has the highest livestock population in Africa, IGAD attaches a great deal of importance to its production and marketing. |
